Merkurius
– technology, entertainment and communication.

In Merkurius Gunilla Heilborn turns her attention to the vast and enigmatic planet Mercury and asks her long-time performer Kristiina Viiala onto the stage in a solo between theatre, dance and philosophy. From astrology to the messenger of the gods – Mercury is said to have had a great influence on humanity. It is a symbol of mankind’s fears and curiosity about the future, as well as the futile attempts to decipher it. Gunilla Heilborn presents a performance that, with dry Nordic humour, deals with the basic questions of humanity: the connections between pIast and future, between microcosm and macrocosm, between space and time.

“Man’s awkwardness and fragile search are portrayed on stage by a brilliant Kristiina Viiala. It is difficult to imagine closer to a complete success in portraying this anxiety and creeping concern about both the past and the present in an empathetic and at the same time humorous way.”
