Proud Performing Arts

Proud Performing Arts’ performances and talks are almost fully scheduled for 28–31
July. This is the same week as Stockholm Pride, when many visitors from all over
Sweden and the rest of the world are in the city. We will use Ö2 Södermalm as our
hub, which is practical since visitors on their way to the new Pride Park will pass by
there. At present, Habib Albi – a Musical Journey in Arabic, with actor/singer Robert
Hannouch and musician Jonas Drejholt, and Stand up Yours, led by Pernilla
Hammargren, are confirmed. We will also be joined by David Sheppeard from
Marlborough Productions in Brighton who, together with Curious Arts and Fatt
Projects, recently produced a chilling survey of the backlash against art and culture
under the LGBTQIA umbrella. This event will be held in Pride House and is therefore
part of the official Stockholm Pride programme. Keep an eye on our social media
channels, where we will shortly present the full programme with ticket links and time
slots. This year we are particularly grateful that the City of Stockholm continues to
value our ongoing work with Proud Performing Arts, as in recent years other travel
and project grant applications have been rejected. It is a highly charged political
moment in which it is crucial that we continue to follow up, discuss, gather and
monitor restrictions targeting LGBTQIA perspectives and people.
